Summary
TRUNSPORT Open Call 1 funds the testing and validation of cybersecurity solutions that strengthen the resilience of European transport systems.
The call supports projects that develop, configure, integrate, test and validate cybersecurity solutions, services, methodologies and training activities for transport systems. Projects should strengthen cyber preparedness and operational resilience, demonstrate measurable improvements against a defined baseline, and show how their results can be integrated into relevant IT and/or OT environments. Validation may take place in operational, simulated, virtualised or cyber-range environments. Proposed activities should contribute to one or more TRUNSPORT Cyber Security Hub modules covering Preparedness Support Services (PSS), Human Shield Strategies (HSS) and Mutual Assistance Support (MAS).
Description
Sectors / domain: Transport and transport-related infrastructures, particularly air, road, rail, maritime and inland waterways, and public/multimodal transport. The focus is on cybersecurity for IT and OT environments within these transport domains.
Individual entity or consortium: Applications may be submitted by an individual entity or a consortium. Eligible entities include transport companies, startups, SMEs, mid-caps, large enterprises, technology and digital providers, infrastructure managers, logistics providers, universities and research centers, public bodies, NGOs, and specialized consultancies.
Specific eligibility requirements: The entity must be established in the EU or EEA and operate in the transport sector or provide services directly linked to transport infrastructure. Each entity may participate in only one proposal for Open Call 1; participation in multiple proposals invalidates all of them.
Themes/Challenges: Projects must address cybersecurity applied to transport and align with at least one module of the TRUNSPORT Cyber Security Hub. Relevant sectors include aviation, road/C-ITS, public and multimodal transport, rail, and maritime transport. Activities may cover NIS2, risk assessment, monitoring, penetration testing, cybersecurity exercises, training, IAM, threat intelligence, incident response, business continuity, and benchmarking.
Projects duration: 9 months. Selected projects are expected to start in January 2027, with the implementation timeline running to September 2027.
Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
Funding rate: Maximum 50% of total eligible project costs. Applicants must therefore provide at least 50% co-financing.
Budget conditions / limitations: Up to €60,000 per project, provided as a lump sum.
CLOSES: 30/10/2026
