Summary

We are looking for industrial and research partners to co-develop and pilot “Solartrace Origin”, a digital product and asset passport plus immutable evidence registry for the photovoltaic (PV) value chain. The solution targets manufacturers, EPCs, asset owners, O&M providers, recyclers and financial actors who need trustworthy, interoperable data to comply with new EU requirements (ESPR, CSRD, taxonomy), improve circularity, and de‑risk investments in solar assets. Partners will help define use cases, validate the data model, and demonstrate the value of traceability and data spaces integration in real PV projects.

Description

Solartrace Origin is a concept for a shared digital infrastructure that captures, normalises and secures critical technical, environmental and lifecycle information of PV components and plants. It combines:

Digital product passports for modules, inverters and balance‑of‑system components, including key parameters (performance, bill of materials, warranty, CO₂ footprint, recyclability).

Digital asset passports for PV plants, aggregating design, commissioning, operation, maintenance and repowering data over the life cycle.

An immutable evidence registry that stores cryptographically anchored “evidences” (test reports, audits, incidents, ESG and circularity documentation), enabling trustworthy due diligence and reporting.

Connectors to emerging European data spaces so that this information can be shared securely with banks, insurers, public authorities and recyclers under clear governance rules.

We seek partners along the PV value chain and in enabling technologies who are interested in:

- Co‑designing the data model and governance rules for passports and evidences.

- Providing real pilot cases (plants, components, portfolios) to test the solution.

- Exploring new business models based on traceability (green premiums, better financing conditions, circularity services, risk scoring).

- Contributing expertise in standards, regulation, digital identity, data spaces or blockchain.

The goal is to build a robust consortium for upcoming EU and national calls, demonstrate measurable benefits in compliance, financing, circularity and risk reduction, and position participants as early movers in the digital product passport landscape for solar PV.
